The partnership with the Silverstone, UK based team was announced in February at the team's presentation at the 2019 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Ontario. This was the first F1 team to ever launch in Canada, paying tribute to Lance Stroll, who is Canadian born and was team's newest driver.
Present at the reveal were also team driver Sergio Perez who continues with the team from the 2018 season in an impressive, 8 season run in the F1 circuit. Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer and Technical Director Andrew Green who introduced the expectations for the team to be "Best of the Rest" and aim at 4th place in the Constructor's Championship in the 2019 Season.
SportPesa continued it's multi-year tradition to support and sponsor the season 2019 rally car of Leo Varesi. The 2019 car selection by the team was a Toyota Auris and it was be supported by Leo's long term navigator Kigo Kareithi.
